The Nitty Gritty:

Big Viking Games is on the hunt for a full-time Quality Assurance Manager to help us in our quest to create the most fun social and mobile games. As QA Manager, your primary responsibility is to strengthen the QA group through processes and people leadership while still maintaining a hands-on approach. You should be able to recruit and engage outstanding QA analysts, grow the skills within our existing QA team, and still look forward to handling test plans, test cases, execution and reporting. You are a key player in providing our fans with the best gaming experiences possible. This position is available at either our London, ON or Toronto, ON studios. In this leadership position, you will be required to travel between the two studios.


The Duties:

  • Development of cross-project testing paradigms, best practices and communication strategies with a proven implementation track record
  • Lead and build QA teams; coaching, counselling, conducting performance reviews and motivating teams
  • A hands-on leader who is able to lead and execute black-box and white-box testing, create test cases, etc.
  • Lead and manage vendor QA relationships and setting up QA pipelines. Also manage and lead internal QA teams
  • Upwards and downwards communication of project status
  • Upstream testing and analysis to prevent bugs from entering the integrated game code
  • Creating, maintaining and executing test plans that test a product from end-to-end within an agile environment
  • Ensure that tests and procedures are properly understood, carried out and evaluated
  • Executing test routines for integration, system, load and performance testing
  • Effectively collaborating with team members to achieve the best results
  • Properly catalogue priority and severity of issues found during the QA testing process
  • Managing and merging approved pull requests via Github
  • Creating and deploying builds, complete with build notes, using Jenkins


The Essentials:

  • Experience leading internal and external QA teams for 2+ years including multiple shipped products
  • 7+ years of experience in a QA environment, testing across web and mobile platforms
  • Experience writing Test Plans, Test Cases, and Test Run execution
  • Hands-on experience with automated testing tools
  • Preference will be given to candidates who have a passion for gaming
  • Solid Knowledge of SQL and Scripting
  • Proven track record with Manual Testing
  • Experience using various bug tracking systems and test case management programs
  • Communicate in a clear and concise manner, in both verbal and written format
  • Online environment and mobile testing experience
  • Experience working in an Agile/Scrum development process
  • A passion for gaming
  • Experience testing within the gaming industry
  • Experience with performance and/or security testing
  • Jira and Confluence Admin experience would be a strong asset
